Michael D. Solomon, who endowed the speaker series that bears his name, will discuss the experience, benefits and challenges of starting his own business.

“The extravaganza is designed to create awareness for entrepreneurship and also educate people about starting and growing a business,” says Julie Messing, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation. “It is an opportunity for many aspiring entrepreneurs, both students and community members, to learn from and network with experts.”

The Entrepreneurship Extravaganza will provide current and future business owners with several workshops, panel discussions and speakers on such topics as entrepreneurs in creative fields, marketing on a shoestring budget, utilizing support networks, sales in the entrepreneurial venture, minority-owned business successes and protecting your ideas.

The event kicks off with the Michael D. Solomon Entrepreneurship Speaker Series on Oct. 4, featuring speaker Michael D. Solomon, 1974 Kent State graduate and chief executive officer of Audyssey Laboratories Inc.

Solomon, who endowed the Speaker Series, will present “A Case Study: Beyond the Launch.” In an extension of his 2005 presentation at Kent State about the experience of starting his own business, this year Solomon will focus on the benefits and challenges in the time after the launch of his business.

Entrepreneurship Extravaganza events culminate on Oct. 5 with a keynote address by M.R. Rangaswami, co-founder of Sand Hill Group LLC, a California-based company that provides investments and management advice to emerging enterprise technology leaders. In addition to Rangazwami’s presentation, “Entrepreneurial Success Factors,” there will be a panel discussion on the same topic.

Sponsored by U.S. Bank, all events are free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register or view a full schedule of events, visit the Entrepreneurship Extravaganza Web site.
