During the 2008-09 academic year, Stevens, who has been with Kent State for 13 years, will lead the college in a strategic review to identify areas of opportunity to address in years to come.

“We are looking forward to George’s continued service to the College of Business Administration and Kent State University,” Provost Robert G. Frank says. “His wealth of experience and commitment to his alma mater will be a valuable asset during this time of transition.”

Prior to his appointment as dean at Kent State, Stevens served as professor of management and dean of the School of Business Administration at Oakland University and as professor of management and interim dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida.

Under his leadership, the Kent State College of Business Administration has achieved great success, including:

  • Extension of the Bachelor of Business Administration degree to all eight Kent State campuses and Lorain County Community College;
  • Extension of the Master of Business Administration degree at the Kent State Stark Campus;
  • Partnerships for numerous dual degree offerings across the university;
  • Establishment of the Goodyear Electronic Classroom, the Vaughn-Hoover Executive Classroom and the Olga M. Mural Financial Engineering Trading Floor; and
  • Full College of Business Administration reaccreditations in 1998 and 2008.

Stevens earned a Master of Business Administration from Washington University and Doctor of Business Administration from Kent State. Stevens recently assumed the two-year presidency of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society serving business programs accredited by the International Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
