Chancellor Fingerhut
Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut recently announced the University System of Ohio is seeking nominations from students, faculty and administrators for its 2010 "Faculty Innovator Awards." These awards will recognize 10 faculty members and/or teams from Ohio’s public universities, regional branch campuses, community colleges, and adult career centers for work they have done to introduce digital course materials in the classroom that enrich learning and make college textbooks more affordable for their students.

Created in 2009, the Faculty Innovator Awards recognize outstanding faculty at University System of Ohio institutions who have creatively integrated digital content (video, simulations, e-texts and journals, visualizations, etc.) into their courses, ultimately lowering the out-of-pocket cost of course materials for students. By creating digital materials, faculty can usher in a new era of learning materials that, if properly implemented, will improve student learning, encourage new, creative thinking from Ohio's talented faculty and reduce out-of-pocket costs for textbooks and related materials for college and university students across Ohio.

Nomination forms, as well as winning faculty and innovations from 2009 , are showcased at the University System of Ohio’s new social media Web site – OhioTextbookHQ – devoted to affordable textbooks and alternative learning materials at www.OhioTextbookHQ.ning.com.

Nominations for Ohio’s 2010 Faculty Innovator Awards must be received by the University System of Ohio electronically no later than 5 p.m. on Feb.15, 2010.
