
| Standing Rock Cultural Arts Offers Art Show, Short Film Festival This Week
Standing Rock Cultural Arts and Hattie Larlham Creative Arts Program announce the closing reception for the POS ABILITIES III Art Exhibition, which is currently on display at the North Water Street Gallery, 257 N. Water Street, in Kent. The exhibition consists of paintings by children and young adults enrolled in the Creative Arts Program of The Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities. Standing Rock Cultural Arts is pleased to collaborate on the exhibition for the 3rd consecutive year. The work exhibited covers a wide range of colors, textures, moods, and personalities. The community is invited to come view this unique exhibition that explores the creative possibilities of children with disabilities in our area. For additional information call 330-673-4970. Regular gallery hours are Thursdays - Saturdays from 1 – 5 p.m. or by appointment. Also on Jan. 30, Standing Rock will host its 7th Annual International Short Film Festival of films from around the globe. The event features short films by acclaimed filmmaker Lucas Figueroa. The last portion of the night will feature silent films by Mike Hovancsek and Cindy Penter, which will be accompanied live by guitarist Brad Bolton. The festival takes place beginning at 8 p.m. at The Kent Stage, 175 E. Main Street in Kent.
