On March 8, Justin Hilton officially assumed the role of senior associate vice president for university relations. In this position, he will serve as the senior administrative officer responsible for the Division of University Relations in the absence of Vice President for University Relations and Chief Communications Officer Iris Harvey.

On a day-to-day basis, Hilton will advise Harvey on a variety of initiatives related to the division and its work across the institution. He will provide leadership to the division on needs assessment, resource utilization, strategic planning and outcomes measurement. He will serve as a member of the division’s executive team and collaborate with other senior administrators in Marketing and Communications, Government Relations, Regional Development, Corporate and Community Services and WKSU-FM.

Hilton brings 14 years of experience to this position. Most recently he served in the Office of the Provost and in Academic Affairs as a special analyst and success solutions consultant where he contributed to the work of the “Tiger Team.” In this position, Hilton worked on engagements that resulted in revamped communications strategies to admitted students, the reorganization of the LER structure, an upgrade to the university Transfer Center and implementation strategies and methodologies for the RCM tool kit.

For seven years, Hilton held a faculty position in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Beyond the classroom, he contributed to student recruitment, advising and retention initiatives.

Recognition by students for his teaching took the form of multiple nominations, as well as being named a finalist for an outstanding teaching award.

In addition, he has worked professionally in his field of architecture as an architectural designer at Robert P. Madison International; Richard Siegfried Architects; and Chambers, Murphy & Burge, Restoration Architects.

Hilton holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, a Bachelor of Architecture, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Kent State University.
