Twenty-Year Club to Honor 69 Inductees

Return to Issue of May 10, 2010

Twenty-Year Club inductees wait for the festivities to begin at last years' event.

The 20-Year Club Service Awards program is an annual event established in 1966 to honor classified and unclassified employees who have dedicated 20 years of continuous service to Kent State University.

Each year friends, family and co-workers join in honoring inductees at an awards dinner. Upon reaching their 20 year milestone, employees may select from a chair for their home or office, or a bench or tree to be placed on campus in their honor.

During the awards program, employees celebrating other service milestones (e.g. five years, 10 years, etc.) are also recognized.

This year’s induction is Thursday, May 27, in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:15 p.m., followed by the program. There are 69 new inductees, which will bring the total 20-Year Club membership to nearly 1,000 people.

The cost for the dinner is $10 for active and retired employees who are members of the 20-Year Club, and $18 for all other guests. You can visit the 20-Year Club website for registration information and a list of this year’s inductees.

This year’s inductees were each asked to reflect back on the past 20 years. View responses from each new 20-Year Club member, as well as their photos
