Many professors have been using programs like iLink and WebCT, and others have used video conferencing technology for several years. Even before the provost funded a grant program for faculty to develop online classes for summer 2009, many professors were developing courses for distance learning.

An increase in individuals and signs on the Kent Campus were the most visible result of the kickoff of Destination Kent State. Destination Kent State, an orientation program for incoming students, consists of three components. The first component, Advising and Registration, which replaces the Placement, Advising and Scheduling System, began June 1.
