The Laurels chapter at Kent State University was among the outstanding chapters to be honored for its excellence at the 2009 Mortar Board National Conference. The group was one of just 32 chapters to take home the Golden Torch Award, presented to outstanding chapters that are superb, timely and go above and beyond the minimum standards throughout the academic year.

The public phase of Kent State University’s Centennial Campaign received its first major gift in the form of a $1.2 million bequest from Judy Devine. A long-time member of the Kent State Intercollegiate Athletic Department and a 2003 inductee into the Varsity “K” Athletic Hall of Fame, Devine¹s pledge will fund the Judith K. Devine Athletic Equity Endowment and is the third-largest gift in the history of Kent State Intercollegiate Athletics.
