The Arbor Day Foundation recently honored Kent State as a 2009 Tree Campus USA University for our dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship. This is the second consecutive year Kent State has been named a Tree Campus USA University. Read More
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan recently announced that the Kent Central Gateway project has received a $20 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Ryan delivered the exciting news to a roomful of officials from the city of Kent, Kent State University and PARTA (Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority) who together lobbied for the transportation facility for several years. The responsibilities of the new vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion include some areas that are currently handled by the Affirmative Action office. In order to make a smooth transition, Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alfreda Brown and Vice President for Human Resources Willis Walker have collaborated on a plan to share the functions of the Affirmative Action office and better meet the needs of faculty, staff and students.
