Gold Standard: Prestigious National Body Endorses Kent State Education ProgramStudents pursuing health and fitness or clinical exercise programs at Kent State University will study in one of the select programs now endorsed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The endorsement is widely considered the “gold standard” in health and fitness certifications and professional memberships.
The curriculum covers the knowledge, skills and abilities that prepare students for the ACSM Health/Fitness Instructor or ACSM Exercise Specialist certification examination. The American College of Sports Medicine expects to endorse more programs this fall. Such an endorsement allows the bachelor’s degree program to offer students unique benefits, including:
The largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world, ACSM includes more than 20,000 international, national and regional members dedicated to advancing and integrating scientific research to provide educational and practical applications for exercise and sports medicine. This endorsement enhances the professional standards for graduates of exercise sciences programs that are part of Kent State’s College of Education, Health, and Human Services. Faculty instrumental in achieving this award include Ellen Glickman, professor, Jackie Iwanski, instructor, and Mike Sanders, academic laboratory manager. |
