Pamela Evans, interim associate dean

Dr. Pamela Evans, interim associate dean of Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design and director of the college’s Interior Design Program, has been appointed to serve as a director representing accredited programs for the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Board of Directors. Evans is a Fellow of the Interior Design Educator’s Council (IDEC). She also has served on the IDEC board, including one term as president.

“Accreditation is a complex yet important issue, informing schools of their strengths, perspective students and their parents about quality, and all the while seeking to improve the future performance of a profession,” says Douglas Steidl, dean of Kent State’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design. “The end goal is to educate individuals who will better serve society in their chosen profession. I know this to be a fact from my service on the National Architectural Accrediting Board. Pamela Evans brings the knowledge, understanding and ethical commitment to fulfill the rigorous demands of an accreditation program, and a side benefit of her service will be the enhancement of Kent State’s Interior Design Program.”

Evans joined Kent State in August 1990. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her doctorate from Oklahoma State University. She is a LEED accredited professional (LEED AP) and a National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Certificate holder. She has served as a board member of IDEC and the Coalition of Interior Designers for Legislation in Ohio. In 2005, she was president of the Interior Design Educators Council. She also has served on IDEC’s National Committee of Promotion and Tenure and IDEC’s National Committee on Research and Scholarly Activities. Evans’ current memberships include the Coalition of Interior Designers for Legislation in Ohio and the Cleveland Green Building Coalition, and she serves as co-chair of the Service Collaborative for IDEC.

Evans resides in Akron, Ohio.

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent, nonprofit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree granting interior design programs.
