Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine
welcomed its Class of 2018 with a White Coat Ceremony
on Aug. 2 in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall
on the Kent Campus.

Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine celebrated the Class of 2018 White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 2. The College of Podiatric Medicine welcomed 122 students into the Class of 2018. The ceremony was held in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall on the Kent Campus.

“I am very pleased to welcome this remarkable group of students to Kent State University,” says Allan M. Boike, D.P.M., dean of Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine. “This class represents 34 states, as well as four nations. These students have some of the most diverse backgrounds and fascinating experiences that led them to pursue a career in medicine. I am honored to play a role in their journey to becoming podiatric physicians.”

Richard Hofacker, D.P.M., served as the keynote speaker. Hofacker is a 1987 graduate of the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine) and currently practices in Akron. Hofacker has more than 25 years of experience in treating foot and ankle problems, including work at Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health System. He also currently serves as the podiatrist for the Cleveland Cavaliers and has served in this role for more than two decades.

Kent State's College of Podiatric Medicine, the largest podiatric medical college in the United States, is a four-year, graduate-level medical college, granting the degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. The college’s mission is to educate students to be highly competent doctors of podiatric medicine who will excel in residency training. Founded in 1916, the college has graduated more than 6,000 podiatrists who have made outstanding contributions to the field and study of podiatric medicine.
