Posted Jan. 13, 2014Voters in the city of Kent approved an income tax increase in the November 2013 election. As a result, on Jan. 1, 2014, the income tax rate for the city of Kent increased from 2 percent to 2.25 percent.
This means that Kent State University employees at the Kent Campus will have an additional amount withheld from their paycheck for Kent City taxes. The increase will begin with the first pay in January for faculty, classified, unclassified and student employees on the Kent Campus.
Kent Campus employees who live in a taxing municipality outside of Kent should contact their city’s tax office to see if the Kent city increase will impact any taxes that may be owed to their city of residence.
Any questions about the change in city income tax should be directed to Lisa Heilman, payroll manager, at 330-672-8640 or lheilman@kent.edu.
