October Lunch and Learn: All Stressed Up and Nowhere to Go

Posted Sept. 23, 2013

Stress is personal. What one person finds overwhelming can be a non-issue for another. However, one thing we know is true for all: stress is unavoidable. In fact, a certain level of stress is healthy and productive. Unhealthy levels of stress can make us feel drained, irritable and physically sick. Discover how to interrupt the stress cycle, understand the effects of chronic stress on brain functioning, establish reasonable relationship boundaries with difficult people and choose healthy coping strategies.

The October Lunch and Learn presentation, titled “All Stressed Up and Nowhere to Go,” will take place on Oct. 3 from noon - 1 p.m. in the Heer Hall Training Room.

This month’s presenter Susan Fee, M.Ed., PCC, works with Lakeshore Educational and Counseling Services, where she specializes in helping her clients develop their personal and professional communication skills. Fee appears regularly on WKYC’s “Good Company” as its relationship expert and is a fill-in co-host for Q104’s morning show. Her column “Mommy Matters” appears bi-monthly in Akron Family Magazine.

The Lunch and Learn programs are sponsored by the Division of Human Resources and are held in conjunction with Impact, the university’s employee assistance program. The hourlong programs are free and open to faculty and staff. However, seating is limited and reservations are required. Employees will have the opportunity to purchase pre-packaged healthy lunches to enjoy during the presentation. If you would like to order a lunch, you must do so before Tuesday, Oct. 1. This information is available on the registration form. Register here.
