Posted June 18, 2012 | Carla WyckoffIS' bIggeSt wInnerS!—a group of five team members from the Division of Information Services—lost a total of 85 pounds to win the Kent State Biggest Winner competition.
The results are in for Kent State’s Biggest Winner competition and the first-place team is IS' bIggeSt wInnerS!
All five team members are from the Division of Information Services, and include: Brendan Walsh, Ruth Ruggles, Dolly Lowe, Kathy Meeker and Kathleen Banas. The group, led by Walsh who dropped 34 pounds, lost a total of 85 pounds during the competition.
The team received a surprise visit from university wellness coordinator Rachael Decker, notifying them that they had won the eight-week faculty/staff competition. The team was presented with a banner to hang in their office, and each individual received $100.
The second-place team was Shapeshifters, and each team member received a $25 gift card.
The overall weight loss for all participants was 564 pounds. There were also five individuals who each lost 10 percent of their body weight.
To help the Biggest Winners participants maintain their healthy habits, an At Home Maintenance Challenge is underway. “We have 40 people who signed up for the maintenance program, which means each one has committed to continuing their healthy lifestyle habits for the next six months,” Decker says. “It’s a great way to keep people motivated and we will conclude the program with an event to celebrate everyone’s achievements.”
