For the second year in a row, Kent State's TV2 has taken top honors in the College Media Association’s (CMA) Pinnacle Awards, earning the 2013 TV Station of the Year award at the CMA National College Media Convention in New Orleans.

The Agenda, TV2’s topical comedy-satire show, also won Best TV Entertainment Program.

Overall, TV2 was a finalist in four of five TV categories in the 2013 national competition, including Best Sportscast and Best Newscast. In 2012, TV2 also won Station of the Year and Best Sportscast.

“The Pinnacle is an extraordinary honor and well-deserved recognition of our students’ hard work,” says John Butte, practitioner-in-residence at Kent State’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and TV2 advisor. “Winning two years in a row confirms the very high standards our students set for themselves and attain.”

TV2 general manager and senior electronic media major Katy Coduto credits the station’s continued success in national competitions to the strong work ethic of the TV2 team.

“I'm incredibly proud of our station and the work we've done over the past year,” Coduto says. “It is an honor to be the college television Station of the Year again, and I'm glad we were able to represent our entire staff so well in New Orleans. Everyone in TV2 should be proud of themselves and the hard work we've done because this is truly a team effort each and every day.”

The College Media Association provides education and support for professionals and students engaged in all forms of student-produced media on college and university campuses.
