Pictured is Little Round Top at Gettysburg Battlefield,
Pennsylvania, submitted by Kiersten F. Latham, Ph.D.,
assistant professor in the School of Library and Information
Science. As the head of the museum studies specialization,
she studies how people experience museum objects. This
site is the spot where one of her research participants, Phil,
described a numinous experience with a “museum” object.
Both the photograph and the tree were triggers of this
experience. Latham took this photo many years after Phil’s
encounter but wanted to document her own encounter of it
as well.
