Kent State Department of Sociology Dedicates Dr. James T. Laing Memorial Conference Room
To pay tribute to his father and provide a permanent legacy, Kent State University alumnus Tom Laing, ’55, ’56, and his wife, Barbara, made a recent gift to name the conference room in the Department of Sociology in memory of Dr. James T. Laing, the first chair of the department.

Posted Aug. 29, 2011Losing weight can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. OneWellU, the university’s wellness program, is expanding its popular Weight Watchers at Work program by offering day and evening sessions this fall.
Weight Watchers at Work includes the new Points Plus program and e-tools to make losing weight easier while still enjoying many of the foods you like to eat. This year, the program will be available to students, as well as to faculty and staff on the Kent Campus.
The day session will be held on Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 313 of the Kent Student Center. The evening session will be held on Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 14, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Room 315 of the Kent Student Center.
Each session will run for 17 weeks, ending the week of Jan. 9, 2012. The cost is $175, which can be paid in full or in three installments. There is an incentive program for employees who have medical coverage through Medical Mutual of Ohio. Information on the program is available on the OneWellU website.
An informational session will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at noon in Room 313 of the Kent Student Center for the day session. The informational session for the evening program will be held on Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in room 315 of the Kent Student Center.
