Posted Aug. 24, 2015Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine celebrated the Class of 2019 White Coat Ceremony on Friday, July 31. The College of Podiatric Medicine welcomed 122 students into the Class of 2019. The ceremony was held in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall on the Kent Campus.
Allan M. Boike, D.P.M., dean of the College of Podiatric Medicine welcomed the new students to Kent State.
“This class represents 35 states, as well as four nations,” Boike says. “These students have some of the most diverse backgrounds and fascinating experiences that led them to pursue a career in medicine. I am honored to play a role in their journey to becoming podiatric physicians.”
Karen Kellogg, D.P.M., served as the keynote speaker. Kellogg graduated from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, and received a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine (formerly the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) in 2000. She completed a three-year podiatric surgery residency at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, Ohio. Upon completion of her residency, Kellogg practiced at Suppan Foot and Ankle Clinic in Orrville, Ohio, and then at Fairlawn Foot and Ankle Clinic in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Kellogg is an adjunct faculty member and advisory board member at Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine. She is a member of the Ohio delegation for the American Podiatric Medical Association House of Delegates.
