Kent State University employees share some of their favorite summer vacation and staycation photos with e-Inside. Watch out for more photos in the next issue of e-Inside.

Catherine Tish, secretary in the Institute for Bibliography
and Editing at University Libraries, submitted this staycation
photo of kids having their end-of-season baseball picnic.
The kids were batting with water balloons. Tish's son
Daniel is next up to bat in this photo.

Stephen Gagola, Kent State math professor, shared this
photo of his son Kent State alumnus Stephen Gagola, III,
taking a break from his duties. The younger Gagola is
currently on a one-year research appointment at the
University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South
Africa. The picture shows him at a now famous landmark
(Nelson Mandela's house).

Kristin Dowling, business development manager for
IdeaBase, Kent State's multidisciplinary creative agency,
submitted her favorite photo from this summer so far.
Dowling and her family rode The Racer at Kings Island
(a roller coaster with two tracks). She and her 10-year-old
were in the front car on the "red track" and her husband and
12-year-old were in the front car on the "blue track." Dowling
says, "I took a selfie as we climbed the first hill and just
happened to snap it at the same time my husband was
doing the same thing with my other daughter on the
'red track.' Double seflie, I guess :)."

Charlene Nichol, administrative secretary in the Office
of the President, her husband and some friends went
whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle,
Pennsylvania. Nichol is seated front left, with her husband
seating behind her at the rear end of the raft.

Elaine Robinson, assistant to the vice
president for institutional advancement,
submitted this photo of her favorite
staycation location -- her 16 x 40 ft
community garden plot in Kent. Robinson
says, "This year I did a mandala (spiritual
and ritual symbol representing the universe)
with everything growing in a circular format."

business operations, shared this photo of his son and
daughter, future Flashes Sam and Julia Holik, at a stop by
the beach in Cambria, California, during their drive from L.A.
to San Francisco.
