Posted Aug. 20, 2012Kent State's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced its 2012 Varsity ‘K’ Hall of Fame class consisting of eight new members.
2012 Induction will take place Sept. 28
The Kent State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced its 2012 Varsity ‘K’ Hall of Fame class consisting of eight new members who are to be introduced as part of the 34th induction ceremonies held Sept. 28. The 2012 Class will be joined by a Team of Distinction and two special honorees in being formally recognized at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Joining the Kent State Varsity “K” Athletics Hall of Fame are Jody Caldwell (women’s track and field, 1989-1992), John Densevich (men’s track and field, 1994-1998), Sean Freeman (baseball, 1991-1994), Todd Lancaster (men’s golf, 1995-1998), Marci Ridenbaugh (softball, 2001-2004), Demetric Shaw (men’s basketball, 1999-2002), Lindsay Shearer Milano (women’s basketball, 2002-06) and Gabby Wedding DeHart (women’s golf, 2002-2005).
In addition, the Varsity “K” Athletics Hall of Fame will be honoring the 1972-73 men’s track and field team as its first ever Team of Distinction. Allan Kaupinen (Distinguished Alumnus) and Nancy Schiappa (Honorary Varsity “K”) will receive special recognition for their contributions and accomplishments
