Posted March 9, 2015FlashPort is a Web-based resource for faculty members, which allows individuals to easily search for answers to questions related to their role at Kent State University. The Redesign Steering Committee for the Center for Teaching and Learning (formerly Faculty Professional Development Center) recommended a faculty portal to connect faculty services.
The committee identified a problem with access to resources for faculty development. Its report stated that because professional development opportunities at Kent State are spread across the campus system, it has made accessing those resources difficult for faculty members, leading to many of the services being underused. To solve the problem, the committee recommended a virtual faculty portal for all faculty resources.
To assist faculty in readily finding answers to their questions, the FlashPort features the following categories: General Information, Teaching, Scholarship, Service/Governance, Benefits/Wellness and Student Concerns.
Additionally, visitors to the portal have the ability to:
- Suggest a faculty-related event to be posted on the FlashPort home page
- Submit a question to the site administrators
- Send a comment to the site administrators
- Provide a resource to potentially be added to the site
The FlashPort is a critical resource that can help faculty members identify services that will add to their success at Kent State. Faculty members can access the portal at www.kent.edu/flashport or in FlashLine (select the Faculty & Advisor Tools tab and click on the Quick Links & Resources page).
