Kent State University’s Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg will host the annual conference of the Midwest Decision Sciences Institute from April 18-20. The Midwest Decision Sciences Institute is a regional chapter of the Decision Science Institute, a professional organization of academicians and practitioners interested in applying quantitative and behavioral methods to the problems of society.

Through national, international and regional conferences, competitions and publications, the institute provides an international forum for presenting and sharing research in the study of decision processes across disciplines.

The Midwest Decision Sciences Institute was created in 1970 with the goal to be the professional organization of choice for business scholars. This year’s conference is hosted by Kent State’s Business Management and Technology program.

Faculty members from Kent State campuses, including the Regional College; College of Business and Administration; College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology; and the College of Arts and Sciences are members of the Midwest Decision Sciences Institute. Many Kent State members are scheduled to present at this year’s conference, and several papers are co-authored with Kent State students; an excellent way for students to learn the rigors of theoretical and applied research.

Conference registration is $175 for members, $200 for non-members and $30 for students.

“The objective of the organization is to promote academic collegiality, increase the quality of academic research and integrate academic research into the practitioner community,” says Kent State Associate Professor Joseph Muscatello, Ph.D., who serves as vice president of planning and development for the Midwest Decision Sciences Institute.

The Kent State Regional Academic Center at Twinsburg, located at 2745 Creekside Drive in Twinsburg, features a 44,000-square-foot, two-story building with executive education suites and state-of-the-art technology. The center offers opportunities for hosting conferences, including executive workforce training and development.
