Kent State University Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg recently hosted a group of 34 high school students from Esperanza Inc.’s Saturday Academy. Students in the Saturday Academy program visit various college campuses throughout the semester to learn about educational opportunities, college admissions process and more.

Thomas Hoiles, director of Enrollment Management and Student Services, and his staff, shared information about college readiness, programs and courses offered at the center. Current students who have attended the Kent Campus and Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg volunteered to share their personal college experiences with the high school students.

Following lunch and a time-management presentation by Reema Suhwail, Esperanza Inc. program coordinator, students traveled to the Kent Campus. They were greeted by the Latino Networking Caucus (LNC) during the annual LNC Alumni Awards Luncheon in Kent Student Center. T. David Garcia, associate vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and José C. Feliciano, Kent State's President's Ambassador, addressed the students during the luncheon. The students concluded their visit with a tour of the Kent Campus.

“Seeing the Latino students on campus motivated many of the students to not only possibly attend Kent but to go to college in general” Suhwail commented in an evaluation of the visit.
