Excitement was in the air as the final structural beam of the Kent State University at Stark Sciences Building was ready to be placed. On June 25, the campus community gathered near the construction site where the I-beam was on display.

Walter Wagor, who ended his term as dean of Kent State Stark on June 30, proudly gave a few remarks about the seventh major building to be added on the 200-acre campus before employees took their place in Kent State Stark Campus history by signing the Kent-gold beam.

The 41,140-square-foot Sciences Building, which will connect to the second floor of Main Hall’s East Wing through a bridge/lounge, will be the campus’s anchor for sciences and health sciences departments. The $17 million project, featuring a 125-seat lecture hall, a 55-station computer classroom and a state-of-the-art nursing simulation laboratory, will achieve LEED® Gold Certification through the implementation of various sustainability elements.
