ESPN, one of the top sports networks in America, has chosen Kent State University’s TeleProductions to broadcast four ESPN3 college football games this fall. TeleProductions’ satellite uplink/production truck makes it possible to broadcast live-action sports with superior quality.
ESPN3 is a broadband network that provides live sports coverage online. The sport network covers everything from the National Basketball Association (NBA) games, to college football, and The Masters Golf Tournament.
“We built the truck with the expectations that it would produce ESPN-quality work, and now it’s exceeding those expectations,” TeleProductions’ Director John Butte says.
Jeff Bentley, executive director of the Kent State Sports Network, which is the sports production branch of TeleProductions, says “TeleProductions’ satellite uplink/production truck is able to provide the high-quality that ESPN3 requires.” “Also, TeleProductions has a great past working relationship with ESPN3, as do individuals on the TeleProductions staff. Working with ESPN3 is a great opportunity,” Bentley says.
The games will be at Northern Illinois University and Ohio University. The third and fourth sites are still unconfirmed. TeleProductions is currently working with ESPN3 to finalize the plans for each game.
The more experienced TeleProductions’ students will be working the games along with the TeleProductions staff. Students will gain professional experience working with ESPN3, which will help them learn more about the field of live sports production and increase their chances of getting jobs after graduation.
