Kent State East Liverpool Students “Stick It to the Dean” to Raise Money for a Cause

Students and staff from the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Kent State University at East Liverpool recently held a fundraiser to support the cystic fibrosis “Stick It to CF” campaign. Every February, students in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program select an organization to support to mark national Physical Therapy Month.
Staying true to the campaign, the students cleverly coined their fundraiser “Stick It to the Dean.” Steve Nameth, Ph.D., dean of Kent State’s Columbiana County campuses, was a great sport and allowed students to purchase tickets in exchange for duct tape used to stick him to the wall. Nameth was excited to take part in the fundraising activities.
“It was a fun way to raise money for an important cause,” Nameth says. “It [cystic fibrosis]is a disease that affects people in our own community, and I am pleased that our students chose to support such a worthy cause.”
Through their hard work, the students raised $500, which was matched by the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Club, totaling $1,000 donated to support ongoing research by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Dan Boszor, president of the PTA Club, was happy with the fundraiser turnout.
“On behalf of the PTA Club, we are pleased with the results of this fundraiser, and had a great time while supporting a great cause,” Boszor says.
