Kent State’s Department of Recreational Services Presents Free Pride Games Event on Aug. 1

Kent State University’s Department of Recreational Services presents Pride Games, a free community event, on Friday, Aug. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Pride Games will feature a number of fun competitions, culminating in a social in downtown Kent. The event is a collaborative effort between the Department of Recreational Services, PRIDE!Kent, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) Student Center and the Kent State Women’s Center.

Participants will sign up for one of four color teams during registration the day of the event. Individuals also will sign up to represent their team in at least one competition, such as dodgeball, sand volleyball, tug of war, slip and slide, a cheer competition or a glow run. The first 150 participants to register will receive a free Pride Games tank top.

The purpose of the event is to promote equity and inclusion for all people, as well as to raise awareness about the upcoming Gay Games 9 hosted in Akron and Cleveland. PRIDE!Kent, the LGBTQ Student Center and the Women’s Center will staff tables during the event and provide information about campus resources and future programs.

Kent State Alumni Association Hosts Tailgate for Kent State vs. Ohio State Game

The Kent State University Alumni Association will host an alumni and fan tailgate prior to the Kent State vs. Ohio State football game in Columbus on Sept. 13. All Kent State faculty and staff are welcome to join.

This is the third time the alumni association has hosted a tailgate prior to the Ohio State football game. The first time was in 2002 and then again in 2007. Kent State alumni and Golden Flashes’ fans are invited to “Get Your Gold On” and join the association at the game.

Saturday, Sept. 13
Enjoy the official pre-game tailgate for Golden Flash alumni and fans, featuring welcome remarks by Kent State President Beverly Warren.

Start time: 9 a.m. (Game time is noon)

$25 for Alumni Association members and guests
$30 for nonmembers and guests

Last Chance to Register for Kent State Day at Cedar Point
