Football Fan Experience Night Set For Aug. 17
Kent State fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2011 Golden Flashes football team – and check out the pregame tailgate in the Field House – when the Department of Athletics hosts Fan Experience Night on Wednesday, Aug. 17. The event is free and open to the public. During the entire event, Kent State Athletics will be collecting donations to benefit the Alabama Tornado Relief Fund.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the Fan Experience will run for an hour in Kent State Field House. The activities will include inflatables, food vendors and music as well as an opportunity to take pictures with Flash and the Kent State cheerleaders. Also during that time, fans will be able to sign up to win the chance to call the offensive and defensive plays from the sideline near the end of the scrimmage.
The festivities will then move to Dix Stadium for an open practice and scrimmage, which is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Fans who wish to purchase season tickets will have the opportunity during the game to select their seats. At the conclusion of the scrimmage, there will be an autograph session with the Golden Flashes players and coaches on the field.
The Flashes kick off the 2011 season on Sept. 3 at Alabama before returning home to host Louisiana at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Dix Stadium.
Visit www.kentstatesports.com or call the Athletic Ticket Office at 330-672-2244 for more information or to order season tickets. Don’t forget that Kent State faculty and staff receive special discounts on their season tickets.

Kent State Dedicates the New Math Emporium
Save the date for Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. as the university dedicates the Kent State University Math Emporium. The Math Emporium is a state-of-the-art learning center launching this fall. Kent State faculty and staff members are invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony and dessert reception at the Math Emporium, which will be located on the second floor of the University Library.

The university has developed a specialized learning experience to equip students with the mathematical knowledge they will need on their path to graduation. At the Math Emporium, students will learn through an innovative, engaging and easy-to-use program designed to help them become comfortable and proficient in basic mathematics.

Kent Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Event Set For Aug. 25
The Kent State University Golden Flashes are getting down to business and the Kent business community has the opportunity to see and hear firsthand what the game plan is for the upcoming season. In years past, the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) has held tailgating events – one during football season, and one during basketball season, to raise money for its scholarship program. This year, the chamber is trying something different. Everyone is invited to attend the first KACC/KSU Kick-Off Luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 25, at Dix Stadium. Proceeds from tickets sold will benefit KACC’s Scholarship Fund 2012.
Come and watch the team in action during practice, and then join us for lunch. Head football coach Darrell Hazell, members of his staff and senior student-athletes will be in attendance.
11:30 a.m. – Football Practice
Noon – Lunch and Program
Kent Area Chamber of Commerce membership is not required to attend. The cost is $200 for a table of 7, and $35 per individual seat. A Kent State coach or player will fill the 8th seat at each table! Please RSVP to 330-673-9855 no later than Monday, Aug. 22.
