Planetarium's Holiday Show Presented Dec.17 and 18

The planetarium's traditional holiday presentation is set for Friday, Dec. 17, and Saturday,Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. in Room 108 of Smith Hall. The show is an exploration of the skies of winter and their connection to religious and cultural observances throughout the world. Discover what's in the clear skies of winter and learn how the people of the world structure their lives around the heavens.

This show is free and open to all, but is not recommended for children under age six. Seating capacity is limited, so reservations must be made by calling 330-672-2246. Reservations are now being accepted. We request that persons needing special accommodations call at least one week in advance.

Kent State University at Salem Community Choir Kicks off 20th Year with A Celebration of Carols

The Kent State University at Salem Communiversity Choir

The Kent State University at Salem Community Choir is celebrating its 20th season this year with its first concert, A Celebration of Carols. The concert will be presented Sunday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. in the second floor auditorium of the Kent State at Salem City Center, which is located at 230 N. Lincoln Ave. in Salem.

The concert, which is part of Kent State at Salem's Symphonious Sunday Series, is free and open to the public.

This celebration of festive holiday music will feature selections from Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols and fun versions of many well-loved holiday carols. In addition to piano, the choir will be accompanied by harp, brass and woodwinds.

The choir, which is made up of both Kent State students and community members, recently changed its name to reflect its membership. It is now the Kent State at Salem Communiversity Choir and everyone is welcome to join. Students who sing may elect to receive college credit.
