Kent Chorus to Perform at Cartwright Hall, Dec. 2
The Kent Chorus will inspire holiday cheer with its performance on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall. Cartwright Hall is located at 650 Hilltop Dr., with free parking located off of Terrace Drive.
The Kent Chorus’ seasonal selections will include Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols,” accompanied by Kent State alumna Nancy Paterson on the harp. The Men’s and Women’s Choruses will also take part in the Kent Chorus concert as guest performers.
Tickets for the performance are $8 for adults; $5 for seniors and Kent State faculty and staff; and free for Kent State students.
The Kent Chorus is made up of more than 100 Kent State students, faculty and staff, and Kent community members.
Tickets are available weekdays, noon to 5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Box Office, located in the lobby of the Roe Green Center in the Music and Speech Building at 1325 Theatre Dr. on the Kent Campus. The Performing Arts Box Office accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover, in addition to cash and checks.
The Cartwright Hall box office will open one hour prior to the performance for walk-up sales, and will also accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Tickets and more information are also available by calling 330-672-ARTS (2787).

Kent State University Planetarium Presents “The Skies of Winter”
The Kent State University Planetarium’s holiday presentation “The Skies of Winter: Holidays in the Planetarium” has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30, Saturday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. each night in Room 108, Smith Hall on the Kent Campus.
The program continues this year with an exploration of the skies of winter and their connection to religious and cultural observances throughout the world. Join the planetarium to explore what you can see in the lovely clear skies of winter and how the people of the world structure their lives around the heavens.
This hour-long program is open to all, but is not recommended for children under age six. As always, there is no admission charge.
Individuals needing accommodations for this event are encouraged to contact the Physics department by calling 330-672-2246 or faxing 330-672-2959. Although there is no admission charge, reservations are necessary and can be made by calling 330-672-2246 to indicate your interest.

Kent State University Bookstore Hosts Faculty and Staff Appreciation Event
The Kent State University Bookstore invites Kent State faculty and staff to its annual appreciation event on Nov. 29, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Nov. 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event on both days will take place at the University Bookstore located in the Kent Student Center.
The appreciation event will feature a book-signing by comedian and Kent State alumnus Mike Polk Jr. on Nov. 29, from noon to 2 p.m. The bookstore also will host a Holiday Giving Tree and refreshments will be served.
During the event, faculty and staff can take advantage of a 25 percent discount on select merchandise offered by the bookstore.

Comedian Mike Polk Jr. Will Autograph New Book at Kent State University Bookstore
The Kent State University Bookstore will host comedian
Mike Polk Jr. for a book-signing of his new book Damn Right

Comedian Mike Polk Jr. will visit the Kent State University Bookstore located at the Kent Student Center on Thursday, Nov. 29, from noon to 2 p.m. to meet and greet fans and autograph copies of his new book, Damn Right I'm from Cleveland. The event is free and open to the public.
Polk's book is a rustbelt satire lampooning Cleveland's quirks, including the city's boundless obsession with disappointing sports teams, Cleveland's nonstop quest to reinvent its civic image, and a grab-bag collection of odd local celebrities. Sections are devoted to such "timely" topics as: "Riding the RTA: A Fascinating Cultural Experience," "A Cleveland Enemies Hall of Fame," "A Comparison of Three Area Gentlemen’s Clubs" and "A Remake of Cleveland’s Own Flag" to name a few.
Polk is a Cleveland-based writer and comedian whose self-produced videos have more than 50 million combined views on YouTube alone. He is responsible for such viral hits as "The Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video" (which appeared in the Michael Moore documentary "Capitalism: A Love Story"), "The Honest R&B Song," "The One Semester of Spanish Love Song" and the award-winning Internet series "Man In The Box." Polk has been performing sketch comedy with the group Last Call for more than nine years. The troupe won "Best of the Festival" in Toronto in 2011, and Seattle in 2010, and regularly perform at Cleveland's Playhouse Square Theaters.
Polk has been named Cleveland's best comedian by Scene Magazine and Cleveland Magazine on several occasions. His work has also appeared on TNT's "Inside the NBA," and on FunnyorDie.com. He graduated from Kent State University in 2002 with a degree in communications and wrote for The Daily Kent Stater. For all of his bluster, Polk is a huge advocate of the Northeast Ohio area and is happy to call Cleveland his home.

Kent State Downtown Gallery Presents Annual Small Works Competition and Sale
A variety of media and styles presented by area artists
Kent State University School of Art Galleries will host the annual “Small Works Competition,” now through Dec. 22, at the Downtown Gallery.
The Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in downtown Kent. Free parking is available behind the gallery.
The Small Works Competition is open to regional and local artists, and Kent State students, faculty and staff. The art must fall within a 12-inch-by-12-inch-by-12-inch size requirement.
The exhibition promises to represent a variety of artistic styles and techniques. Last year’s competition featured jewelry and metal, paintings, prints, ceramics and more.
Gallery visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase their favorite pieces, supporting local artists while also finding unique holiday gifts.
