New Face

Job Description:
Support and train faculty on new Blackboard Learn Learning Management System
Worked at KSU since:
January 2012
Employment Prior to Kent State University:
For the last eight years, I’ve worked in the Film and Television industry as an actor, director, writer and producer. Before that I worked at the University of Central Florida in computer support, systems administration and department management roles.
Likes Most About Kent State University:
That it’s a prestigious public institution with national recognition.
Attraction to Kent State University as an Employer:
I feel secure as a university employee. It seems far less likely to suffer layoffs than in the private industry world. Also, my wife works at the University of Akron, so we’ve now doubled our “paid education” choices for ourselves and our daughters.
Resides in:
Green, Ohio
Hometown:
I’ve lived in so many places, I don’t have a hometown, but I was born in Greenville, S.C., and moved to Madeira Beach, Fla., less than a week after I was born.
Education:
I have an A.A. in Film Studies from Tallahassee Community College. I attended the Florida State University Film School for two years, but transferred my credits to the University of Central Florida, where I received my bachelor’s degree.
Hobbies:
Reading and watching SciFi and Fantasy, learning to make special effects/visual effects in Adobe After Effects, rock hounding (Geodes specifically)

Likes Most About Kent State University:
Foremost, the choices of study that reflect 21st century careers. Additionally, I take pride in the university’s commitment to supporting the success of the ‘whole’ student; in scholarship, accessibility needs, financial assistance, wellness, etc. I am also enthusiastic about our many traditions and annual events such as the May 4 reflection, Featured Speaker Series, and on the Stark Campus, Kentiki!
Attraction to Kent State University as an Employer:
It is a privilege to be in the classroom each day and to be part of the process leading students into their futures. Kent State has been very supportive of my teaching efforts and professional development. On a smaller scale, I enjoy the modern classrooms and beauty of the Stark Campus.
