HR Question of the Week

HR Question of the week

My child is enrolled in a summer camp. Can I receive reimbursement from my dependent care flexible spending account for the cost of this camp?

Dependent care expenses are those that are necessary for you and your spouse (if married) to be gainfully employed. The cost of sending your child to a day camp may be a work-related expense, even if the camp specializes in a particular activity, such as computers or soccer and your child is under the age of 13 when the care is provided.

NOTE: The cost of sending your child to an overnight camp is not considered an eligible expense under your dependent care flexible spending account.

If you have specific questions regarding your flexible spending account or allowable expenses, please call University Benefits at 330-672-3107. You may also contact FlexSave at 1-800-525-9252 or visit their website at www.mytakecareplan.com.
