HR Question of the Week

HR Question of the week

Do I need to complete Open Enrollment if I am not making any changes to my coverage?

If you do not complete open enrollment, the majority of your 2014 elections will roll over to 2015, with the exception of the Flexible Spending Accounts (Health Care and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts). For these accounts, you must make a new election annually. In addition, the Flexible Spending Accounts require your signature, which you will be able to complete online via an electronic signature. Also, if you elect the opt-out option, you will need to complete the 2015 Opt-Out Affidavit in order to receive the opt-out incentive.

All Open Enrollment changes must be made through FlashLine and can be accessed by taking the following steps:

  1. Log in to FlashLine using your existing username and password.
  2. Click on the My HR tab.
  3. On the left side of the screen, look for the Employment Details box and click on the Open Enrollment - through Oct. 24 link.

Although there are no major plan changes to the medical, prescription, vision or dental plans for 2015, we encourage faculty and staff to review all of the benefit plan options and costs in FlashLine before finalizing any enrollment decisions. You may enroll or subsequently change your enrollment at any time during the open enrollment period, Oct. 12-24.

For all your open enrollment news, including the Open Enrollment Booklet and Navigation Guide, please visit the Open Enrollment website at www.kent.edu/hr/benefits/open-enrollment.cfm.

Several computer labs also are scheduled throughout the Open Enrollment period for employees. For a full listing of available labs, please see page 8 of the Open Enrollment Booklet or click here.
