Angela Neal-Barnett, Department of Psychology, Dana Maurice Pugh, Department of Psychology, Robert Stadulis, College of Education, Health and Human Services, Joy King, ’72, presented “An Evaluation of the Factor Structure of the Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children in Middle School Age African American Girls” at the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Nov. 11-13, 2011.
Yosh Hakutani, Department of English, has been named to the editorial board of Valley Voices: A Literary Review and Journal of Ethnic American Literature, August 2010.
William Anderson, School of Music, was inducted into The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance Hall of Fame. At Kent State University, he was founding director of the Center for the Study of World Musics, founding director of the Graduate Liberal Studies program, associate dean of the Graduate College, associate dean for Academic Affairs in the College and Graduate School of Education, and associate dean, Division of Research and Graduate Studies. Anderson is author, compiler and editor of many books, accompanying recordings and articles on music education. In 1990, he was director of a national symposium in Washington, D.C., on Multicultural Approaches to Music Education, a collaboration of The National Association for Music Education, the Society for Ethnomusicology and the Smithsonian Institution. He has been president of the 6000-member Ohio Music Education Association, president of the board of directors of the Ohio Foundation for Music Education, and is a recipient of the Ohio Music Education Association Distinguished Service Award.
Nicole Bissessar, Department of Economics, Kent State University at Ashtabula, presented, “Can Labor Markets With Expansive Job Opportunities Affect U.S. University Retention Rates?” at the 72nd International Atlantic Economic Conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 23, 2011.
Elizabeth Richardson, University Libraries, Sarah Wagner, Library and Information Science, presented “Restricted Section: The Library as Presented in Harry Potter” at the Ravenclaw Academic Conference (part of Potterfest) in Edinboro, Pa., Oct. 21, 2011.
Kiersten Latham, School of Library and Information Science, presented “The Space Between" at the Document Academy (DOCAM) 2011 Conference in Växjö, Sweden, Oct. 1-2, 2011. The presentation was about document transaction, a concept that is central to Latham’s research on physicality and museum objects.
