Professional Activities

Myra West, Professor Emerita, Department of Physics, was elected to the position of president-elect of the Ohio Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers at its spring 2010 meeting held at John Carroll University. West also serves as the newsletter editor for the section as well as being the section representative to the national AAPT.

Steven R. Brown, Department of Political Science, delivered a plenary address on "The Lost Scent of Subjectivity" at the 33rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Society of Political Psychology, July 7-10, 2010, San Francisco, Calif. The address was delivered as recipient of the Harold Lasswell Award for "distinguished scientific contribution in the field of political psychology."

James (Jim) Rinier, Kent State University, presented highest honor by Ohio Department of Natural Resources for outstanding contributions to the protection and enjoyment of the state's natural resources. Rinier was inducted into the ODNR Hall of Fame. Director Sean D. Logan presented the awards during a ceremony at the agency's Fountain Square Complex in Columbus.

Nicole Bissessar, Department of Economics, Kent State University at Ashtabula, has become a member of the Board of Editors, Center for Promoting Ideas in Dhaka, Bangladesh. July 2010.

Steven R. Brown, Department of Political Science, participated in a roundtable, "Panel of Experts: Q Listserve Goes LIVE," at the 26th annual meeting of the International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity, University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, Oct.7, 2010.

E. Thomas Dowd, Department of Psychology, presented Religion and Psychological Practice at the Department of Psychology, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia on May 6 and 7, 2010.
