Professional Activities
Marcia Zeng, School of Library and Information Science, Karen Gracy, School of Library and Information Science, have received a National Leadership Grant in the amount of $219,386 from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The funds will be used to help improve access to digital resources within and beyond the library world through what is known as “Linked Open Data (LOD),”

Robert Stadulis, Exercise, Leisure and Sport, Mary MacCracken, ‘80, Robert Gandee, presented, “Social Physique Anxiety, Body Composition and Body Satisfaction/Dissatisfaction in Middle School Children,” at the Association for Applied Sport Psychology Annual Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sept. 23, 2011.
Richard Feinberg, Department of Anthropology, presented “We, the Taumako: The Legacy of Raymond Firth and Polynesian Outlier Kinship in the Twenty-first Century” at the American Anthropological Association in Montreal, Canada, Nov. 18, 2011.
John Primm, Orientation, Kent State University at Tuscarawas, presented “An Introduction to Multigenre Writing, William Kist and the Youngstown State University English Festival” at the Ohio Association for Developmental Education (OADE) Fall Conference 2011: Guiding the Way to Success in Oregon, Ohio, Nov. 3, 2011. NOTE: Dr. Kist is associate professor of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies at Kent State University.
Robert Trogdon, Department of English, spoke Oct. 27 during Hemingway Week at the Hudson Library and Historical Society as part of the library's ongoing Author Series. Trogdon is a scholar of 20th century American literature and textual editing. He has published extensively on the works of Ernest Hemingway and Joseph Conrad. In addition to his teaching and research, Trogdon is also director of the Institute for Bibliography and Editing.
Angela Neal-Barnett, Department of Psychology, Robert Stadulis, College of Education, and Alexandra Li, presented “The Relationship Between Perceived Racism and Anxiety in Professional African-American Women” at the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Nov. 11-13, 2011. Additional comments: Received the best original research poster award from the ABCT African Americans Special Interest Group.
