Professional Activities

Pratim Datta, Management and Information Systems, was awarded the "2008-09 Outstanding MBA Professor Award", sponsored by the Graduate Management Association (student organization) of Kent State University’s Graduate School of Management, Kent, Ohio. Awarded summer 2009.

Mary Dellman-Jenkins, Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences, Robert Baer, Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences, Greg Jarvie, VP of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, received a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education. The project was titled, “Transition and Postsecondary Program for Students with Intellectual Disabilities at Kent State University.” The funds received for the first year, 2011, were $384,997.

James Watson, General Counsel, was recently selected as Hibernian of the Year by the St. Brendan division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The honor is bestowed on members who show extraordinary service to the community and to their chapter. Watson currently serves as vice president of the Akron chapter.

Richard Feinberg, Anthropology, became a member of the American Anthropological Association Writers Circle at the request of the association president, Virginia Dominguez. The purpose of the Writers Circle is to bring anthropological perspectives to public attention by helping colleagues improve drafts of articles intended for submission to magazines or newspapers.
