The Regional College will be led by an administrator who also serves as dean and chief administrative officer of her/his respective Regional Campus. This administrative dean of the Regional College will be responsible for the administrative and curricular functions of the newly formed Regional College.

The fashion show was applauded by a capacity crowd of 250 guests and raised $8,000 for the museum.
- Posted May. 28, 2010 - Kent State Precision Flight Team Wins Prestigious Trophy Kent State University’s Precision Flight Team recently attended the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s 2010 SAFECON (Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference) competition and walked away with the prestigious Loening Trophy. The Loening Trophy is the rarest and oldest of all collegiate aviation awards. It is a perpetual trophy presented annually to the outstanding all-around collegiate aviation program in the nation.

Lefton announced today that Greg Jarvie has been named vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA). The announcement was made at the university’s Board of Trustees meeting. Since Aug. 1, 2009, Jarvie has been serving as interim vice president. He also held the position of dean of students.

- Posted May. 26, 2010 - Water Line Work May Affect University’s Neighbors Kent State University will be repairing water line valves serving the campus this week. The repair work, which is part of the Risman Plaza renovation project, requires water valve replacements and the water lines to be flushed. When the university’s water is restored Thursday, May 27, at around 6 a.m. and again Sunday, May 30, at around 5 a.m., residents and businesses near the university may see a slight discoloration in their water.
- Posted May. 25, 2010 - Kent State Establishes Center for Adult and Veteran Services To better serve the needs of the increasing number of adult students including veterans, Kent State University has created the Center for Adult and Veteran Services. The new office replaces the former Adult Student Center and combines with it the university’s Veterans Affairs Benefits Certifying Official responsibilities.

The Thursday evening ceremony for those receiving doctoral degrees was held in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.
- Posted May. 11, 2010 - Master of Public Health Degree Now Available at Kent State The Ohio Board of Regents has approved a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree to be offered at Kent State University. Available through the university’s new College of Public Health, the master’s degree joins Kent State’s offering of a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (B.S.P.H.) and an 18-credit hour undergraduate certificate in public health. The university plans to offer doctoral degrees, providing the full range of public health degrees.

Rep. Tim Ryan, who serves the 17th District of Ohio, introduced the resolution on May 5, 2010. His district includes Kent, Ohio.

- Posted May. 7, 2010 - NIH Awards $2.7-Million Grant to Kent State The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded a $2.7-million grant to Kent State University for a collaborative research project with Case Western Reserve University School of Nursing, Summa Health System in Akron and University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland to study cognitive impairment in heart failure patients. The four-year grant from NIH’s National Heart, Lung, And Blood Institute runs through Jan. 31, 2014.

The events of May 4 played an important part in the civil rights and anti-war movement. May 4’s significance in American history was further confirmed when the May 4 site was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places, a remarkable achievement for a site that is less than 50 years old.

The center’s speaker will be Maj. Ian Rutherford, who is an assistant professor at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC) teaching courses in Canadian politics, international studies and strategic studies. Goodman, a resident of Cleveland, has been chosen as one of the “20 Broadcast Legacy Award Inductees” and will formally receive the recognition at a gala luncheon event in Cleveland on April 7.
- Posted Apr. 5, 2010 - Regional Campuses Reduce Tuition for Out-of-State Students Kent State University is reducing tuition by more than $6,000 annually for residents of northern West Virginia and western Pennsylvania when they attend a Regional Campus. The price break will start this fall. The tuition will decrease across the board to reflect an 80 percent reduction in the surcharge normally assessed to out-of-state students. For example, a full-time student taking upper division classes, which are currently $13,478 a year, will now pay just $7,324.
