Franklin Hall Opening

Franklin Hall Opening The grand opening of Franklin Hall celebrated the completion of a $21 million restoration project, providing students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) with a new state-of-the-art facility that enhances the quality of their education and helps prepare them for jobs in a fast-changing media environment.

The Kent city Chamber of Commerce hosted its June “Business After Hours” as an official Centennial event in the newly renovated Franklin Hall (photos right). Franklin Hall holds many memories for townspeople since it served as the university’s Teacher Training School from 1926-56, when the new University School was built on Summit Street (Michael Schwartz Center).
