Congress Passes Resolution Commemorating May 4, 1970
Posted May. 7, 2010By a vote of 413-0, the House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution commemorating the 40th anniversary of the May 4, 1970, shootings at Kent State University. Rep. Tim Ryan, who serves the 17th District of Ohio, introduced the resolution on May 5, 2010. His district includes Kent, Ohio.
Two days prior to introducing the resolution, Ryan attended some of the 40th commemoration events at Kent State, including the university’s 2010 Democracy Speaker program that featured Ryan’s colleague and civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis of Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District. Read the resolution.
