University’s 2011 Relay for Life Event Starts April 16

Posted Apr. 12, 2011

Do you know someone who has been affected by cancer? Join Relay for Life this weekend at Kent State University and help fight back against the terrible disease. The event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, and continues until 10 a.m. Sunday, April 17, on the university’s Liquid Crystal Small Group Track. Events will be ongoing throughout the day, so attendees are encouraged to stop by when they can or participate for the full 24 hours.

Photo from Relay for LifeThis year, the Kent State Relay for Life team’s goal is to raise $98,000 in the fight against cancer. Donations help the American Cancer Society continue to educate people about prevention and other issues, research the disease and ways to fight it, and support those currently battling cancer.

Even if those who are not registered for a team, people can still come to celebrate survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against the cancer. Donations will be accepted at the registration tent throughout the event.

Attendees can participate in games and ceremonies throughout the day, like the Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. Saturday. Survivors, those who are still fighting and those who have passed away will be honored.

For more information, please email ksurelay@gmail.com, visit www.relayforlife.org/ksu or stop by room 126D in the Kent Student Center. Information tables will be set up in the Kent Student Center throughout the week. Show us your hope for a world without cancer!
