UCLA Professor to Discuss the Impact of the Environment on Health, April 20

Kent State University’s College of Public Health presents the next guest of its Public Health Speaker Series. Dr. Richard J. Jackson will speak Wednesday, April 20, at 7 p.m. in Kent State’s Michael Schwartz Auditorium. His talk is titled “Design Leaders are Health Leaders: Architects and Planners Have Done Much and Can Do More for the Public’s Health.” The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Jackson is a professor and chair of the Environmental Health Sciences Department at UCLA School of Public Health. He is an epidemiologist with extensive background in infectious disease and toxicology. His works on policy analyses of environmental impacts on health ranges from toxicology to urban design and architecture. Dr. Jackson’s current work is focused on investigating the impact of the environment on health, especially in children. He will be visiting Kent State to speak on how design leaders and health leaders can continue to contribute to the improvement of the public’s health.
