Yale Professor to Speak at Kent State about Global Health, Oct. 27
Posted Oct. 10, 2011Dr. David Katz, director and founder of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center, will present “Feet, Forks and the Fate of Our Species” at Kent State University on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva. The lecture kicks off the university’s Gerald H. Read Distinguished Lecture Series, which this year is devoted to bringing awareness to a global pandemic: obesity.
Katz will discuss how behaviors we all control can help our bodies and the planet heal. This event is free and open to the public.
Katz is a renowned authority on nutrition, weight management and the prevention of chronic disease, and an internationally-recognized leader in integrative medicine and patient-centered care.
“The fate of our species is in our hands,” Katz said. “The same changes that foster human health support the health of the planet.”
His message will focus on the intertwined relationship between human disease and the environment and how to act now to prevent obesity and its related diseases worldwide.
This event at Kent State is co-sponsored by the College of Education, Health, and Human Service’s Nutrition Outreach Center and the College of Public Health.
