Director of New York’s Tobacco Control Program to Speak at Kent State, Nov. 14

Kent State University’s College of Public Health presents the second speaker in its Public Health Speaker Series this fall semester. Dr. Jeffrey Willett is a research scientist with the New York State Department of Health and also the director of New York’s Tobacco Control Program. Willet will speak on Monday, Nov. 14, at noon at the Moulton Hall Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

His talk titled “Tobacco Use: A Winnable Battle for Public Health” will focus on the development of tobacco use as the leading cause of preventable death in United States over the last century and the tremendous health and economic impacts of tobacco use in our society. He also will address interventions that reduce tobacco use, specifically those used by the New York Tobacco Control Program.
