Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalists Inspire Kent State Audience
Husband-and-wife duo Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, who combine journalism and activism in their unique brand of reporting centered on human rights abuses and advocacy, were the featured presenters at the fourth Kent State University Presidential Speaker Series on Nov. 14 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Kristof and WuDunn are the first married couple to win a Pulitzer Prize in journalism for their coverage of China's Tiananmen Square democracy movement.
The couple spent the afternoon meeting with Kent State journalism students before delivering their lecture later in the evening.
Esplanade Extension Officially Opened during Partnership Celebration
The University Esplanade is built around the economic development of downtown Kent, and is a vital connection between the university and downtown projects that include PARTA’s new Kent Central Gateway multimodal transit center, private developments from Acorn Alley and Fairmount Properties, and the new Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.
Kent State University Homecoming 2013
Thousands of Kent State University alumni, students, friends and community members visited campus for Homecoming 2013 on Oct. 5. The event featured the Bowman Cup 5k, annual parade, "Kiss on the K," tailgate party and much more. The Golden Flashes football team battled the Northern Illinois Huskies at Dix Stadium.

Stark State Agreement Signing
Recognizing the need to facilitate the transfer of students from Stark State College to Kent State University to pursue and achieve their educational goals, Kent State President Lester A. Lefton and Stark State President John O'Donnell sign an institutional articulation agreement. The agreement eases the transfer process and promotes the closer coordination of academic courses, programs and degrees offered by the two institutions.

Experience for Life: Samsung VP Dr. Sung Tae Shin
Dr. Sung Tae Shin, senior vice president of Samsung's LCD Center in South Korea, recently visited Kent State to discuss the university's groundbreaking research involving new applications for liquid crystal display technologies. Shin, who received his Ph.D. from Kent State in 1994, met with representatives of the Liquid Crystal Institute and other faculty members to review progress on two research grant projects funded by Samsung.
