Dedication of the New Cohn Jewish Student Center
Return to Issue of Oct. 12, 2009 | Kent State Videos
Oct. 12, 2009 "For our students, it is a place to find friends and mentors. It is a place for intellectual and spiritual sustenance. A place that increases the opportunities for students to take on the job of Tikkun Olam -- repairing the world -- and involving themselves in meaningful leadership roles." ~President Lester Lefton.
Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton, Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut and Hillel Executive Director Jennifer Chestnut were only a few of the more than 400 alumni, community members, visiting dignitaries, donors and students in attendance Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at the celebratory dedication. The mezuzah-hanging on the main door was a central moment, signifying the building as a Jewish home. A child's hand reaches for the colorful object as part of the ceremonial dedication.
As the show concludes, Gary Cohn dedicated the new Cohn Jewish Student Center at Hillel at Kent State University as the first Hillel building built on the campus of a state university.
