A quintet of Kent State University at Trumbull students – representing the Kent State Trumbull Enactus team – competed with more than 200 other Enactus teams from across the country as part of the Enactus United States National Exposition, April 1-2 in Cincinnati.

Accompanied by faculty advisor Susan Emens, Ph.D., associate professor of business management and related technologies, students Antone Klecha, Kristin Boehm, Rachel Lloyd, Michael Jajcinovic and Annette Schick advanced to the quarterfinal round in the 2014 Enactus U.S. National Competition. From each national competition, one team will be selected to represent their country at Enactus World Cup 2014, taking place from Oct. 22-24, in Beijing, China.

The Kent State Trumbull team, with eight active members, has engaged in projects that have transformed lives through entrepreneurial action over the past year.

The students forged meaningful partnerships with managers from area Chase Bank branches to deliver a series of financial literacy workshops to students from Warren’s Inspiring Minds organization. The mission of Inspiring Minds is to engage, inspire and empower youth to reach their full potential through education and exposure to life-changing experiences.

Additionally, the Kent State Trumbull Enactus team also reached out to the women of Hannah’s House with its Job Readiness Workshops. Part of the Warren Family Mission, Hannah’s House is a one-year program designed to help women of all ages to overcome life-controlling problems, substance abuse and challenges in their lives. Through collaboration with the Ohio Means Jobs organization and Kent State Trumbull’s Workforce Development and Continuing Studies Center, the students empowered these women with tools and resources they will need as they seek to re-enter the workforce.
