Kent State University is in the process of installing 1,716 solar panels on the Kent State Field House located on the Kent Campus. The panels will cover almost one acre of roof area or nearly 0.5 megawatt of panel capacity. This installation is believed to be the largest roof mounted system among Ohio’s public universities.
Kent State University marked its 42nd annual May 4, 1970, commemoration on May 3 and 4. The commemoration events were an opportunity for students and the community to gather and reflect on the tragedy and adapt the lessons learned to current events.
Kent State University will host an organic photovoltaics (OPV) symposium to present current research and progress April 17 from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Kiva. The symposium is free and open to the public.
On May 13, two Northeast Ohio pilots will fly two antique airplanes on a 1,670 nautical mile journey to Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport. A direct flight from Kent State University to Dayton is approximately 160 miles, but this particular trip will be taking a more scenic route.
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The 2012 season was certainly one to remember for the Kent State men's golf team. The No. 17 ranked Golden Flashes advanced to the match-play portion of the NCAA Championship and secured the highest finish in school history by tying for 5th in the nation. In the match-play quarterfinal, Kent State fell by a count of 3-1-1 to No. 2 Alabama.
Students from Kent State University’s schools of Journalism and Mass Communication and Digital Sciences have created a data-driven website that features a recent feed of what’s happening in the Kent area including Kent State campus buildings.
The 33rd Annual Lil' Sibs Weekend at Kent State University will be held from Friday, April 13, to Sunday, April 15. The weekend is filled with activities and events organized and orchestrated by the Kent Interhall Council (KIC). This year’s theme is “Dream Big Dreams, Lil' Sibs 2012.”
The American Red Cross of Summit and Portage counties honored Kent State student Eric Johnston, 21, Kent State alumnus Jared Atkins, 23, and University of Akron alumnus Paul Marschik, 24, for acts of bravery that saved lives.
The Kent State baseball team made its 12th NCAA tournament appearance this year and advanced to the Super Regional for the first time this season. The team also played in the College World Series for the first time in program history, which dates back to 1915. The Golden Flashes edged out top seed Florida in its second game at the College World Series.
The Kent State University Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising announces the opening of its new retail space, The Fashion School Store. Located in downtown Kent, Ohio, in the newly revitalized retail area known as Acorn Alley II, the store will hold a public grand opening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18. Guests will have the opportunity to view the new space, purchase merchandise and enjoy light refreshments.
