Kent State University at Stark is responding to the current and future needs of the sciences and health sciences disciplines by adding a state-of-the-art building that will feature educational technology, as well as provide a platform for increased student research through hands-on education and active learning.

The School of Library and Information Science at Kent State University has moved up in the rankings of the nation’s top schools of library and information studies, according to the latest edition (2014) of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools.”

Spring 2013 commencement ceremonies for Kent State University were held Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11. All of the Kent Campus commencement ceremonies took place at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). Across the university’s eight-campus system, more than 4,450 students graduated from Kent State this spring.

Kent State University Libraries will host its Stress-Free Zone event in the library’s lobby on Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7, from 3-5 p.m. The Stress-Free Zone offers members of the university community the opportunity to unwind and ease the stress of finals week.
The first shovels of dirt are turned over during the groundbreaking for Kent State’s Field House Locker Room project.

On May 3, 2013, the groundbreaking for Kent State University’s Field House Locker Room project took place at the Kent State Field House, which is located at 2227 Summit St. in Kent, Ohio. The Field House Locker Room project is the first phase of the Building Champions Fundraising Initiative. It is also a part of the university’s “Foundations of Excellence: Building the Future” initiative.

Kent State University held its 43rd annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with events taking place May 2-5, 2013. The annual commemoration provides an avenue for the university community to come together to remember those lost and injured during the tragedy and also to reflect on the meaning of May 4 for today.
<p>Christopher P. Banks has been selected as Kent State University's Scholar of the Month. Banks is an associate professor of political science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State.</p>

Christopher Banks' scholarship focuses on law, justice and the courts. He is a frequent guest on local and national news programs following Supreme Court decisions. His most recent book is titled The U.S. Supreme Court and New Federalism.

Film director and producer Oliver Stone will join Kent State University to mark its 43rd annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with the dedication of the May 4 Visitors Center. The center, which tells the May 4 story set against the political and cultural changes of the 1960s, will be dedicated Saturday, May 4, with other traditional commemorative events beginning Friday, May 3.

PBS news anchor Gwen Ifill will join Kent State University to mark its 43rd annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with the dedication of the May 4 Visitors Center. The center, which tells the May 4 story set against the political and cultural changes of the 1960s, will be dedicated Saturday, May 4, with other traditional commemorative events beginning Friday, May 3.
Students enjoy some of the new stores in College Town Kent, a pedestrian-oriented shopping, office and lifestyle center developed by Fairmount Properties and its partners. The 185,000-square-foot development in downtown Kent includes the new AMETEK and Davey Tree buildings. Seen in the background is the new Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.

Kent State University and the City of Kent have been selected as the winners of the Larry Abernathy Award from the International Town-Gown Association (ITGA). The award honors the town-gown relationship that best represents the spirit of ITGA.
